CORDUROY'S

Corduroy has always been misunderstood.

In India especially, it’s often labelled as a winter-only fabric — heavy, warm, and seasonal. At Aspirational, we saw something completely different. We saw texture, depth, durability, and timelessness. And that’s why, from our very first collection, corduroy became the foundation of our brand.

Even as we move into our second collection, the philosophy remains unchanged — the major portion of our designs and fabrics continue to be corduroys.

This isn’t accidental. It’s intentional.

Why Corduroy Became the Core of Aspirational

When we began designing our first collection, we weren’t looking for what was trending. We were looking for what felt right — something that could age well, feel premium, and still stay versatile across seasons.

Denim, while iconic, has become oversaturated. Almost every brand works with it, often in similar ways. We wanted to build an identity around a fabric that had history, character, and room for reinterpretation.

For us, corduroy is the second most timeless fabric after denim — durable, vintage, and often overlooked. That’s exactly what made it aspirational.

Breaking the Myth: Corduroy Is Not Just for Winters

One of the most common questions we hear is:

“Isn’t corduroy only meant for winters?”

The answer is simple — no.

Corduroy is not defined by season. It’s defined by wale count, fabric construction, and GSM (grams per square meter). Once you understand that, corduroy becomes a year-round fabric.

Corduroy for Summers: Lightweight Shirting Corduroys

At Aspirational, we’ve sourced and developed corduroy fabrics suitable for especially for summers

  • 19 wale corduroys

  • Starting from 180 GSM

  • Soft, breathable, and lightweight

These fabrics are designed to feel comfortable even in warmer climates, making them ideal for summer shirts without compromising on texture or structure.

Corduroy for Layering: Jackets & Transitional Weather

Corduroy also works beautifully for layering when developed correctly.

Our collections include:

  • 14 wale corduroys — perfect for jackets that can be worn in both summers and winters

  • 8 wale and 6 wale corduroys — around 300 GSM, ideal for India’s breezy, transitional weather

These fabrics offer warmth without feeling bulky, making them suitable for multiple seasons rather than just peak winters.

Seasonless, Timeless, Intentional

Corduroy, when done right, is seasonless.

It adapts. It evolves. It ages beautifully. And most importantly, it holds character — something we value deeply at Aspirational.

That’s why even in our upcoming collections, corduroy continues to dominate our design language. Not as a trend, but as an identity.

Building an Identity Around Corduroy

Our long-term vision is simple:

When you see corduroy,

you think Aspirational.

In a market flooded with denim and fast trends, corduroy allows us to slow down, focus on craftsmanship, and create pieces that feel considered rather than mass-produced.

It’s vintage.

It’s durable.

It’s misunderstood.

And that’s exactly why it resonates with us.

Aspirationalist Corduroys

From shirting to jackets, from summers to winters, corduroy isn’t just a fabric choice for us — it’s a philosophy.

Aspirationalist Corduroys represent our belief in timeless design, thoughtful sourcing, and building something that lasts beyond seasons.
